• Suitable for 1 dwarf hamster (Russian, Roborovski, Chinese) or 1 mouse. Not suitable for Syrian hamsters these require a larger cage and wider bar spacing.

Setting Up a Happy Home

1. Wash all cage parts and accessories with warm water and mild washing-up liquid or pet-safe disinfectant. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.
2. Pour a deep layer of clean bedding (dust-free wood shavings or paper-based) into the base — at least 8 cm so your pet can dig and burrow.
3. Add two types of nesting material to offer choice and comfort.
4. Install the platform, ladder, and water bottle. Fill the bottle with fresh water, screw the cap tight, tap gently to start the drip-reducing spout, and clip it vertically onto the wire.
5. Place a food bowl, a suitable exercise wheel (not included), and safe chew toys for enrichment.
6. If moving a pet from an old cage, sprinkle a small amount of dry, unsoiled used bedding into the new home — familiar scent reduces stress.
7. Gently introduce your pet and allow them to explore undisturbed for a few hours.

Water Bottle Tips

• Fill and screw the cap firmly. Turn bottle spout-down and tap to let water flow into the nozzle. A few drips initially are normal.
• On warmer days, air inside the bottle may expand, causing occasional dripping — this stops as the temperature evens out.
• Always keep the bottle vertical. Check the spout daily for blockages or drips.

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Remove and replace soiled bedding from toilet areas daily. A small litter tray (sold separately) makes this task quicker.
• Full cage clean once a week: remove all bedding, wash the base with a damp cloth and mild pet-safe cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach, or scourers.
• Dry everything completely before adding fresh bedding.
• When replacing bedding, always mix in a little dry, clean old bedding to carry familiar scent and help your pet feel secure.

• Inspect bars, base, and accessories regularly for cracks, rust, or loose parts. Stop using immediately if damaged.
• If any material is chewed or swallowed, contact a vet without delay.
• Place the cage out of direct sunlight, away from draughts, radiators, and electrical equipment.
• Choose a quiet spot, especially because these pets are nocturnal and need undisturbed sleep during the day. Bedrooms may not be ideal night-time activity can disturb your sleep.
• For pets only keep packaging and small assembly parts away from young children.

Enrichment & Exercise

Small animals need daily mental stimulation. Under-stimulated pets may chew cage bars or over-use their wheel. Prevent boredom by:

• Providing a deep layer of bedding for burrowing at least 8 cm.
• Offering supervised playtime outside the cage in a secure playpen or a safe exercise ball (evenings are best, as they are naturally active at night).

This cage is designed for a single pet. Some dwarf hamster species can live in pairs, but they need a larger, carefully introduced environment. For one, it’s perfect.

Will the bars stop a mouse from escaping?
Yes, the narrow bar spacing is specifically chosen to prevent mice and dwarf hamsters from squeezing through.

Can I attach tubes from other brands?
The included tunnel connectors are designed to fit WIMBORNE PET CENTRE tunnels. Other brands may not be compatible we recommend using our modular tunnel system for safety and best fit.

How do I stop the water bottle dripping?
Make sure the bottle is perfectly vertical and the cap is tightly sealed. Tap it gently after filling to equalise pressure. A few drips after temperature changes are normal.

Is the base deep enough for burrowing?
Absolutely. The high-sided base allows you to add a generous layer of bedding so your pet can dig and tunnel to their heart’s content.
